Dr Ruth L. Mallors Director Aerospace & Defence KTN Ruth brings with her a wealth of experience across multiple sectors in providing strategic input, facilitation and guidance to enable business change and improvement through effective Knowledge Management and Knowledge Transfer. Before joining the KTN, Ruth has worked for Ernst & Young, Sainsbury’s and AMEC all in senior roles leading organisational transformation through Knowledge Management programmes as well working as a freelance management consultant. Ruth holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh in addition to her first degree from University College London. Ruth is responsible for developing and broadening the strategic agenda of the KTN, which includes maintaining and creating relationships with senior stakeholders from Industry, Academia and Government, across multiple Departments and Sectors as appropriate. |

Pierre Nelkin “Pierre Nelkin joined CIMPA, a 100% owned subsidiary of Airbus, to manage and develop the Extended Enterprise business unit. The aim of CIMPA’s Extended Enterprise is to support companies in developing and implementing collaboration concepts with their supply chain. Currently, CIMPA’s Extended Enterprise business is providing various services on the Airbus A350 project. Before joining CIMPA, Pierre Nelkin had worked for Airbus for 20 years. He spent his first 10 years in different roles in the IT/IS function. As part of his responsibilities he developed and managed the Transnational Network, Telecommunication and Security Competence Center, in the context of the Airbus national companies’ Information System Integration. He then joined Airbus Procurement and over 5 years lead a transnational IT improvement programme. Following this he was appointed Head of Engineering Procurement at Airbus for all Aircraft Structure activities and in addition he also represented Airbus in EADS committees on several occasions.” |

Chris Wilkinson Chris Wilkinson is the Engineering Director for Spirit AeroSystems (Europe) Ltd. He is responsible for the development of capability. This spans R&D and new product development. He is a non-executive director of a number of Charity Based organisations including the Manufacturing Institute that implemented the UK’s first Fab Lab in Manchester earlier this year. |

Mr. Steve Truswell Steve Truswell has over 20 years experience of the Russian market. He served originally as a Russia specialist in the Foreign Office but in recent years has focused on the UK’s trading relationship with Russia and the problems and issues facing UK companies in the Russian market. Steve has been working closely with specialist consultancy Kinetic Cubed (www.kinetic3.co.uk) on trade, investment and business development projects in the Russian market with a focus on Advanced Engineering. Steve gained an MBA from Imperial College, London, in 1993 and thereafter his career took him to Manchester where he was responsible for promoting foreign inward investment into the North West of England. Then in Moscow he headed the Commercial Department of the British Embassy for three years. Subsequently he was responsible for a number of international nuclear projects which included the dismantling of surplus Soviet nuclear submarines, the construction of a spent nuclear fuel storage facility and the remediation of a naval nuclear fuel depot. He now provides international trade and Russia market research to a range of UK Government trade and investment agencies, covering subjects as diverse as banking and insurance, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aerospace and automotive engineering. Most recently he has provided a series of in-depth studies of the Russian advanced engineering industry for UK Trade and Investment, based on one to one discussions with top managers at Russian engineering plants in the Volga Basin, the Ural mountains as well as St Petersburg and, of course, Moscow. He is a fluent Russian speaker. His reports are based on discussions with senior people who provide considered views from a position of responsibility; his programs of meetings are carefully chosen and tailored to meet the specific needs of each client. |

Joanna Leigh has worked in the aerospace industry for the Performance Review Institute for over seven years. In that time she has worked closely with many big industry names including Rolls-Royce plc and The Boeing Company. She has attended and spoken at many conferences throughout Europe regarding aerospace supplier quality, especially regarding special processes and products and the Nadcap program. Among her responsibilities, she works with the Nadcap Supplier Support Committee, a body which represents the views of the aerospace supplier to the industry. | ![]() |
